Janne Laine Professor, Helsinki University of Technology, Finland

Prof. Laine has been working in the field of surface and colloid (nano) chemistry of cellulose-based materials for about 15 years. He graduated from Helsinki University of Technology 1991 (MSc.) and finalized his PhD-work 1996. Then he worked five years at the Swedish Pulp and Paper Research Institute (STFI) as a principal scientist in the paper chemistry group. In 2001 prof. Laine returned to the Laboratory of Forest Products Chemistry at the Helsinki University of Technology. He was appointed as professor 2003 and is now leading a research group of about 25 persons, including four senior scientists, about 15 post-doctoral scientists, some graduate students and technicians. Prof. Laine has been working in several international and national scientific projects. He has about 60 papers in refereed scientific journals and totally about 140 publications.
